Paranormal State of confusion - demons and the media

Ok - here is goes. This has been fuming for a couple weeks. It is all about a certain show on A & E called Paranormal State. It is about demons and about the B-name. It is about how we portray this in the media. It is about the dangers that exist.

My wife and I have watched the show. We cringed as recent episodes flashed the letters of a well known demonic entity that has followed Ryan Buell and is apparently part of the shows upcoming plot lines. We cringed as their client mouthed the name of this entity several times. We cringed as Ryan commented about his past encounters with the entity as well as hinted to the battle that was awaiting him in the future.

Honestly, we cringed as we watched a Christian Based cleansing and banishing that got followed by a pagan banishing. But that is minor compared to the danger we feel is being broadcast nationwide.

Pure science can disregard this from here on. This is my opinion. There is still not much of a following for scientifically documenting demonic cases. This is because of the dangers to the humans involved and the loss of equipment as well as sanity. Our own recent shoot for Bravo Europe at a demonic house in our area can testify to that fact. An outside team was going to assist us in scientifically documenting the activity during a possible exorcism as well as be interviewed about their own personal experiences with demonic entities and a client. They backed out on the day of the shoot. Maybe it was that they were afraid. Perhaps it was damaging to their reputation as a scientific team. We understood and accepted that there are dangers in investigating the paranormal as well as the demonic. These cases are not for everybody. We had no hard feelings towards this group. They are a great group and making a positive impact in the community.

Most of you who feel that demons do not exists can discount every opinion I will give here. I know many "white lighters" who have changed their minds after something dark got in. Degrees and years of learning that no demons exists can really mess you up when you find out they do. Christians who feel that they cannot be infested, oppressed or possessed are some of the easiest targets. These are my opinions based on our groups battles with the same demonic entity that is being made famous by Paranormal State.

We have worked with representatives from the Catholic church pursuing official Catholic Exorcisms for clients. We have talked with some of the well respected leaders in the demonology circles. We have consulted with pastors, priests, pagans, wiccans, Native American Shamen, satanists, Kaballists. we've asked questions and received answers. Our clients got help. We got beat up in the process. That is why few are demonologists and why many call themselves ghost hunters or paranormal investigators.

We have dealt with the B name being featured in Paranormal State. Many other groups in the paranormal community have as well. I applaud Paranormal State on being willing to help people living under the influence of these entities and the unseen face of evil.

Most groups only go in to investigate and get evidence, very few pursue it to a level that Ryan and his group have. In that endeavor, he has my highest level of respect. I applaud Chip Coffey for his efforts in helping and assisting those living with paranormal problems, for stepping in to danger and attempting to help a family in need as well as pass along warnings to the others involved in these cases. I applaud Lorraine Warren, Adam Blai, Keith Johnson, his wife Sandra and his brother Carl, for their efforts to help and assist in these cases. These names were probably unknown to the majority of recent Paranormal State viewers. Many of us in the community who found themselves involved in a demonic case have been able to reach out and get help and assistance from these amazing individuals. I applaud John Zaffis as well. These are all cornerstones in a rare field of study.

So I applaud the group, Paranormal State, in their efforts to help and assist those living with paranormal or demonic problems. I applaud the demonologists, mediums, psychics and sensitives who also help and assist on these high level cases. Those who work in this field surrounding science, with your intentions, your faith and your belief outside of pure science itself. You are true lifesavers and spirtual warriors. You are making a difference. So why am I upset.....

Now Millions know the B name, the demonic entity being hinted at on the show.

Did the show spell it out? No, they mixed up the letters and let curiosity get the best of the viewers.

Did the show say the name? No, the bleeped it with silence and let the viewers read the lips of the client who kept repeating it.

Did the show show the reality of this entity? Yes, they showed fear and caution as the warnings were given, as the name popped into the head of those assisting the team.

So is the show to blame if viewers happened to google the possibilities and find out who this demon is?

I feel yes. I want to blame a producer or an editor, I want to blame someone who had the creative control on this show and thought it was a great idea to flash the name of a high level demonic entity to a national audience. I feel it is irresponsible to allow access to this "demonic puzzle". Millions of individuals watching the show have now sparked debates, who is this demon? What is the name? Chat rooms are abuzz, websites speculate and now the name is known..

Dumb. that is dumb. In trying to show the reality of demonic cases and the demonic world, you have opened up pandora's box. The B name has been targeting groups looking for this opportunity for awhile. It found it. If there is the remotest chance that enough people saying the name, reading up on this entity, and focusing energy on this entity can bring it back to what it was and what it wants to be, it is happening now. If it can instill fear in the lives of millions who never put a name to evil before. It will. All we are doing is giving something power. Yes, it is just a name, but it can be brought out. Every one I have spoken to about this have cringed at the possibilities. That was dumb. MY OPINION: THAT WAS DUMB, GREAT CREATIVE MARKETING AND REALLY, REALLY DUMB!

Others in the community (the demonologist community) have issued extreme caution with this entity. They've issued caution with any demonic entity you may encounter. Dem.. BAD - Dem.. DANGER. Thay have issued the warning and talked about the dangers involved. Yes, there is always something larger out there, but we don't need this one to get stronger. This entities minions tore through our group. People ended up in the hospital, lives were destroyed. We had representatives from the Catholic Church issue warnings of extreme caution when we were facing our battle with this entity. Demons are bad, no questions asked. If you want your life destroyed, go find one or let it find you.

Now I would hate for there to be a backlash because of the controversy over the B name, that Paranormal State will be blamed for at some point. I don't know who to blame.....I won't blame, Chip, Adam, Keith, Carl, Lorrain or anyone else assisting the team. They went into help. they don't have creative control over the show. I won't blame Ryan or his group. It is not like they are all Luciferians bent on bringing back the ultimate in evil (I apologize to any Luciferians out there who were offended by that statement, I needed an example and you were the first to come to my mind. That is why this is MY OPINION, ) I don't know and I will not blame them. I guess this comes down to intent.. it usually does in some way, shape or form.

So don't blame the players, don't blame the team, blame the producer and the network. If they thought it was good television and would boost the ratings, well it did. I don't know who to blame but I hope someone is held responisible. There will be some dumb kids out there who watch the show, pull out a Ouiji board and a voice recorder and tryto call out this bad boy. Someone will get hurt and blame Paranormal State and the B name. If the B name comes back to power, that would be very, very , very bad for all humans.

As it is, no one on television has a disclaimer that ghost hunting can be hazardous to your health, no one pushed spiritual protection to all the new groups and the tv viewing ghost hunting masses, no one issues warnings about what to do when something follows you home from your investigation, kills your pets and destroys your life. Let's demand responsibiity of some sort. MTV's JackAss has disclaimers, like "hey, don't do this - it might be stupid and you might get hurt. we say this so you don't sue us if and when you get hurt, if you get hurt."

Disclaimers - Paranormal Shows need to do the same because some kid watching Taps, Pararnormal State, Most Haunted or another show, will run out, buy a voice recorder and a camera and visit his local cemetery where something will follow him home and ruin his life. Some kid will have a spirit attach to him and drive him to the point of insanity. He will be medicated and his entire life will be changed. Some girl will break into an abandoned hospital to mess around with her boyfriend and leave with an attachment that puts her into a mental ward. She will blame a little demon girl that she saw burning alive. She wll never be the same. Someone investigating these cases will have his laptop fried and have his animals die in retaliation for his involvement. Other investigators will be hopsitalized in retaliation as well.

These specific situation listed are some of our clients, our friends as well as what our investigators and our team have witnessed or experienced themselves. This is very real to us. Real cases, the kinds you see on "A Haunting". they do exist and people get hurt. And Demons are bad, summoning them by calling their name is really bad, flasing the B name to millions is really, really bad...

You may say this is BS and I'm paranoid, or I'm possessed or that there is no scientific basis for what I'm saying. This is just my speculation of what I believe happened, there is no way to prove this.

You may say that these situations don't exist. These examples are our clients. These things are our cases. These are our investigators. This is the realties we have seen over the past two years. This is the stuff that Paranormal State and demonologists everywhere are aware of - the dangers of the paranormal that hit too close to home. Let's be responsible in how we potray these dangers to the public. Promote the realities and the dangers. Promote disclaimers. Don't promote the name of a demon........ I think it might (I said might) be a better idea to show a documentary of how any kid can go buy regular store items, spend a couple hours in their parents kitchen and make real Methamphetamine! That is my own personal OPINION! It is a better idea even if it is still a bad idea. Less danger since most of these store items no longer make meth......someone was responsible. Save others from potential danger......

We need a Paranormal State of awareness. I hope it comes quick because incidents of demonic attacks are on the rise everywhere. This last year was crazy and next year will be worse. More and more teams investigating these cases are being affected. I call it the group killer. It splits you up and turns you against other teams and your own team members. The group killer is another topic so I'll end this for now. I'll end in saying who I really blame the most in all of this.....

I blame the demon. They are smart and crafty. They have spent a long time messing with us humans..... I blame the demons. Know the possibilites exist and be aware that this will all get worse. If something happens to you, to your group or to your clients, know that there are people out there that can try to help. Be aware of the dangers. I'll end in quoting Keith Johnson in a recent interview from the Paranormal Insider

Emily: What do you think about the exposure that demonology has received via paranormal television shows?

Keith: Demonology is indeed receiving more and more exposure in the media. The downside of this is that a great deal of it is sensationalized. However, on a positive note, the reality that the demonic realm is indeed a reality is receiving greater awareness. People who genuinely need assistance with demonic disturbances are finding out that they are no longer alone in their situations, and that there are some reliable sources to turn to for help.
I agree - this is the positive part of the message. This is the intent. Helping others in need. Don't sensationalize the name of a demon and make it worse....... but don't blame those who are trying to help.. I dont' know.

Who would you blame?
